We recently had the opportunity to work with homeowners in East Troy who came to us with a clear vision and plenty of ideas for their modern home build. From the first phone call, it was clear they wanted something unique. They asked if we could adapt an existing plan to fit their property and create a clean, Modern architectural style.

When they visited our office, we demonstrated our design approach and discussed ways to bring their ideas to life. One of the homeowners, who is from Spain, hoped for an interior courtyard that felt both open and private. The other dreamed of a kitchen designed for serious cooking. We also discussed building on a foundation with no basement, which would help keep the project closer to budget without sacrificing quality.

Our design team created a courtyard surrounded by the home on three sides, with a screen on the south side that lets in light while maintaining privacy. It connects to the living room so that, when the patio doors are open, the space feels like an extension of the indoors. For the kitchen, we planned a compact layout with professional appliances ready for any culinary creativity.

Logistically, this project had unique challenges. The homeowners were still living in their existing house on the property. We completed most of the construction while they remained there, so they only had to move out briefly while we tore down the old structure and finished the new build. This was especially important because their front porch had become unsafe.

This modern home, built in East Troy, features an open floor plan, passive solar design, radiant floor heating, and an insulated slab-on-grade foundation. The Hybrid Tier 1 exterior wall system enhances energy efficiency, keeping the home comfortable throughout every season.
