Our name, PEA Builders (Progressive Environmental Alternatives) defines our commitment to sustainable construction:

Progressive Materials
and Methods

Sustainable construction starts with using progressive materials and methods to build a home that is high performance. We are continuously searching for new systems that outperform existing systems and lower costs for our customers.

Low Environmental
Impact

Sustainable construction has a low environmental impact. We strive to keep the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle from site planning and design through the entire construction process. It’s simply being good stewards of what we have been given.

Alternative Energy
Sources

Alternative energy systems are used to reduce the need for fossil fuels. The sun, for example, is an amazing source of energy to be utilized by a clever passive solar design and/or by an active PV solar system.

How a PEA Builders’ home compares to others Energy Efficiency:

The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.

The lower a home’s HERS Index, the more energy efficient it is. A home built to code scores a HERS Index of 100, while a net zero energy home scores a HERS Index of 0. Each 1-point decrease in the HERS Index corresponds to a 1% reduction in energy consumption compared to the HERS Reference Home. Thus, a home with a HERS Index of 85 is 15% more energy efficient than the reference home and a home with a HERS Index of 80 is 20% more energy efficient.

PEA Builders homes have an average HERS Index of less than 35!

Condensation in Walls:

Consideration of dew point and condensation in the walls is a key factor in our wall systems.
