Muskego Home Remodel

At PEA Builders, we know firsthand how a thoughtful home remodel can completely transform the way a house feels and functions. This project was especially meaningful to us because it was our own home in Muskego, giving us the chance to reimagine every detail from the inside out.

Bringing New Life to a 1950s Ranch

The original home was a modest 1950s ranch with low ceilings and a layout that felt closed in. Our goal was to open up the main living spaces and make them feel brighter and more spacious without expanding the footprint. To start, we removed walls that separated the kitchen, dining, and living areas. We relocated the dining space and expanded the kitchen to create a more welcoming flow.

The ceiling was taken down, and new framing was added to lift the height and let in more natural light. We refinished the existing hardwood floors, installed new kitchen cabinets, and added an island and wet bar for more storage and functionality. Granite countertops and a tile backsplash finished the kitchen with a clean, modern look.

In the living room, we wrapped the space with a bandboard and shelf for extra character, while a wood-paneled wall with a recessed TV wraps around the corner into the hallway, offering hidden storage

Thoughtful Details Inside and Out

This home remodel also included a complete bathroom update. We replaced the tub with a walk-in shower, added all new wall and floor tile, and installed a floating vanity with a natural quartzite countertop with weathered finish. Just off the kitchen, we built a screen porch with a fireplace, expanding the living space and creating a cozy place to relax during three seasons of the year.

Outside, we added foam insulation to improve energy efficiency. New siding and stonework transformed the exterior into a style that feels true to the prairie architecture the home was always meant to have.
