New kitchen cabinets: Removing the soffits and extending the cabinets up provides more storage space while the crown molding adds elegance.
Dining area: The separate table was eliminated and the new eating area is an extension of the kitchen counters.
Recessed lighting: Adds visual drama to the space giving more light for entertaining and ties the kitchen and family room together.
Room divider removed: The half wall and beam were removed to create the feeling that this is one open space allowing for better flow.
Open shelving: The new open shelving in the family room lightens up the space and better highligts the families accessaries.
